Cafes, hotels and shops in Newcastleton village at/near the trailhead.


Parking is at the Douglas Square trailhead in the centre of Newcastleton village and is free.


Public toilets and showers (free) are just off Douglas Square on Langholm Street, next to the Fire station.

Trail Conditions

Current at Fri 27th Nov 2015


Trails: The Bog, Dead Mans Quarry Climb and Swarfe Hill sections of Red mtb Route closed until end of Feb 2016 (7 days/week) due to tree felling operations in/around Swarfe Hill. 


Blue mtb Route remains fully open



The 2 way section of trail linking the Liddel Water bridge and the tarmac road to Rock UK Outdoor Centre is down to single width in places due to a landslip.  Trail remains open but please could descending riders give way to users climbing up the trail.  


The Skills Area is accessed off the Red MTB Route at post 4. 


Conditions: Wet with puddles in places.


Diversions: Red mtb Route diverted at post 27, rejoins Route at post 22 (reduces overall route distance by 4km).
