Kirroughtree Overview

Kirroughtree, home to some of the best technical singletrack in the country.

Winner of the MBR Trail of the Year in 2010, Kirroughtree is also a favourite family venue with a wide range of trails, seasonal café and a great children’s play area.

The Trails

Close to the Kirroughtree Visitor Centre sites the skills area, perfect for warm ups and helping you decide which grade of trail is correct for your ability.

Kirroughtree spoils you for choice and you can make several selections from the wide range of trails available which include:

The green-graded Bargaly Wood

Offers a relaxed ride taking you around the scenic Bargalt Glen.

For something more challenging try the blue-graded Taster Loop.

The blue-graded Larg Hill

Great if you are looking for something with a bit of added excitement. With the added option of the Doon Hill extension, offering some great veiws.

The red-graded Twister

Technically testing and more demanding of the rider.

The black-graded Black Craig's

Not for the nervous and requires skill to negotiate the highlights McMoab's huge slabs and riges of exposed granite.

Facilities

Catering

Forestry Commission Scotland is currently tendering for businesses to run the catering at all the visitor centres in the Galloway Forest Park.

We are hoping to get caterers in at Kirroughtree as soon as possible and at Clatteringshaws and Glentrool once the centres are fully open, hopefully at the end of July.

In the meantime, if you are visiting Kirroughtree, you can still get light refreshments from the Breakpad bikeshop.
We apologise for any inconvenience whilst the construction work to upgrade and build all the centres is carrying on. We promise to keep the website up to date to keep everyone informed of any changes. www.forestry.gov.uk/gallowayforestpark

Newton Stewart has a good selection of places to eat and drink.
