Trail Conditions

Glentress - Current at 21st November 2014

Trails: All open except, from Mon 17th Nov to the end of Thu 18th Dec (7 days/week) the Buzzards Nest carpark is closed and the road and trail sections between Falla Brae car park and Buzzards Nest car park are closed to the public. The outward Blue/Red/Black Route will be closed at post 4 with a diversion via forest roads (steep in places) rejoining the Routes at post 16.  The Black Route diversion continues from post 16 (via the Blue Return Route & Blue Velvet) rejoining the Route at post 103 (just before Soor Plooms).  The Blue Route return is closed at post 11 (exit of Berm Baby Berm) with a diversion via mainly forest roads back to trailhead.  The Red/Black Route return will be closed at post 53 (exit of Magic Mushroom) with a diversion via forest roads back to trailhead.
These closures and diversions are due to tree felling operations, part of a large programme of tree thinning improvements at Glentress ongoing until May 2015.

Conditions: Good. The Freeride Park, Skills Area and Upper Green Route remain open but the only way to access these from the Peel trailhead is to follow the signposted diversions which use BLUE graded trails with a considerable amount of climbing/descending.

Diversions: See above.

Innerleithen - Current at 21st November 2014

DH Trails: All open

XC Trail:  From Wed 22nd Oct until the end of Jan 2015, due to tree felling operations the XC Trail is closed (7 days/week) at post 10 (start of Taniel Hill descent), with a diversion rejoining the XC Trail at post 34 (Plora Craig). This reduces the overall distance of XC Trail from 19km to ~10.5km.

Conditions: Good.

Diversions:  Short temporary diversion on XC Trail at the very end of the Lead Mine Climb and for first 100m of Clattering Path (post 18) due to storm damaged trees. See also above.
