The Shredder

The Shredder Stats

Grade: Orange - Extreme
Distance: 1Km
Singletrack: 100%

Graded orange bike park, The Shredder is a Downhill (DH) run for beginners and is a great ice breaker into this discipline of the sport.

From fast berms to flat, open corners; tabletop jumps to a road gap; rocky straights through tight trees to off camber sections, The Shredder really gives you a taste of everything that is downhill. It’s great fun and another great addition to Ae’s trails.

Push up for a spectacular view

After a push up alongside the Omega Man (part of the Ae line) and then the fire roads of Knockespen, you reach the top of the hill and are gifted a spectacular view of Ae village and out all the to the Solway coast - usually with a cooling breeze.

Look towards your right. There is a paved way through the land. It looks smooth and gentle but it’s only when you reach the woods you realise how amazing it really is!

Every obstacle on The Shredder has an easier alternative. You can always get off and push if you feel it’s too intimidating. Be careful and get the protective gear on. Look at what you’re going to be doing and enjoy!

Rode Ae forest for the first time on Sunday with my mate Wayne. Did as Rob sugested and rode Ae line then turned and pedaled up following orange arrows at marker 29 start of final omega man descent. Did all jumps rode gap looks a lot more difficult than it is! Carry speed through trees and hit it!! Don't scrub speed and you'll easily clear the following doubles and rest of em. Final jump is a bit harsh though just before fire road, I flatted my front tyre off it! All in all sets you up nice for massive drop off tables and doubles on the final run of omega man! Enjoy!! Definately be back fancy a crack at dh run too!

We do the shredder as a spectacular additional end to the Ae Line Trail, slotting in nicely before the final decent of Omega Man. At marker 29 just follow the orange arrows taking you on fire roads to the top.

Haven't nailed the road gap yet, but there's a lot of technical features packed into the run which urge you to try them again and again getting your technique sorted, becoming smoother, faster and more confident on every visit. Worth giving it a try what ever type of biking you're into... it leaves you grinning from ear to ear! Nice 1!
